D'Nasti Di Hati
Charity Programme

 

The sole programme done by LUMSOC in Malaysia that involves interaction with the Rumah Anak Yatim dan Miskin D’Nasti which will be followed by handing over of supplies of necessity to the home. Participants will also come  to help  around  with the house chores and do gotong-royong together with D’Nasti residents as well as some activities with the young residents.

Freshers Fair

The Freshers Fair is an event that has been carried out by The University of Leeds Student Union every year to welcome the freshers.

 

Held during the week long Freshers Week, the Freshers Fair allows societies to open booths to attract students who wish to inquire or sign up for any societies that pique their interests.

Iftar Hari Raya
Aidiladha

 

Falling on the 24th of September this year, Aidiladha is one of the days of celebration for Muslims around the world. As such, it is highly recommended as a good deed to fast on the day before Aidiladha itself. This iftar aims to introduce LUMSOC to the new members as well as being an ideal platform to strengthen the bond between members as well.

Leeds Malaysian Freshers Weekend

 

The Leeds Malaysian Freshers Weekend will be a two day event held in the span of a weekend as a welcoming party for the newly arrived Malaysians in Leeds. This event will enable the freshers as well as seniors to mingle with each other in a weekend filled with a meet and greet session, beneficial sharing sessions, a barbeque and potluck and the highlight of the event, The Leeds Riddle Run.

Leeds Malaysian Games and Food Festival

In collaboration with the Leeds University Union Malaysian and Singaporean Society (MaSSoc) and Kelab UMNO Leeds Bradford, this event will be a day filled with sporting events where Malaysian students from around the UK are invited to compete in. Also held is the Food Festival where stalls selling popular Malaysian delicacies will open up to give Malaysians a short sense of being at home.

Discover Your Deen (DUDE)

DUDE is a programme which provides Islamic enlightenment and education where guest speakers will be invited to give talks on topics chosen. "Life Cycle of Human Beings” is set to be the theme this year and will cover aspects of life followed by a burial course according to Islamic practice. This programme opens to students across the United Kingdom to join.

Baiti Jannati

 

Baiti Jannati is an annual event which will see participants decorate their home in the most creative and beautiful manner as prescribed by a chosen theme to be crowned champions. 

 

It will also see participants dishing out delicacies according to a theme set as they try to satisfy the taste buds of the picky judges to be named the best cook in Leeds.

Leeds Malaysian Sports Day

A day of sports and fun for Malaysians in Leeds is proposed to be held on this certain date.

 

The sports day will be a leisure day for Malaysians in the midst of just finishing their first semester where they can play various sports lined up to their hearts’ content.

Language and Cultural Day (LAGACY)

Part of LUMSOC’s Weekend at Leeds flagship, LAGACY is a competition open to everyone around the UK to promote Malaysian language and culture to fellow Malaysians as well as locals.

 

The competitions that will be held include balas pantun, dikir barat and traditional dances.

A pre-marriage preparation course that is compulsory for Malaysians before they tie the knot and will be in accordance as set out by the Malaysian government. A special performance night is to be held in conjunction with this event to raise funds for charity.

Charity Work in Leeds

 

LUMSOC will be planning to hold an event for charity in collaboration with the Teddy Bear Hospital Society of the University of Leeds aimed at small children in hopes of encouraging volunteerism and activism among Malaysians in Leeds

LUMSOC Ibrah Adventure (LUMIA) 2016 – Jejak Uthmaniyah

 

For the first time, LUMSOC will be providing the opportunity to Malaysians in the UK to travel to Turkey together with a dedicated tour guide alongside our special guest, Ustaz Syaari, an expert in Turkish history.

 

LUMIA aims to provide Malaysians an opportunity to have a beneficial trip as the trip will encompass locations that are rich in historic value.

Grand dinner to celebrate the committee members, all those who have been major contributors for LUMSOC for the year and the final year students who will be graduating.

Solat Hajat

Solat Hajat is a gathering whereby the Muslim students pray jemaah followed by the recitation of Su-rah Ya-sin. It is hosted before the students sit for their finals.

 

Food will be served after a short sharing session by Ustaz Daud Norakit.
