Today 8th July 2010, marked the fifth anniversary of the 7/7 London Bombing in which 'suicide bombers' attacked London's underground system and a double decker bus, killing 52 people and injuring more than 700.

What make it more interesting is that, two of the accused bombers are from Leeds. Some people claimed it was to Leeds Grand Mosque that Iqbal Sacranie travelled in the wake of the London bombings of 7 July 2005.
"The BBC reported that at the mosque that day, a preacher called Sheikh al-Judai spoke a message aimed particularly at young Muslims, speaking of the need for them to be good citizens and to benefit their society. But that is not always the message in the sermons at Leeds Grand Mosque. When you read the extensive collection of sermons on the mosque’s website, you discover preaching that contains hate, intolerance, incitement and misogyny."

This is one of the reason why we could find 'big brothers' are installed around the mosque. Way back before I was about to come to leeds, a makcik advised me, "Nanti baik-baik kat sana. Kalau tak pi masjid sangat pun tak pa. Tau dak depa record sapa yang pi masjid. Semayang jangan lama-lama sangat...Tapi jangan x semayang!" (in the meantime handed me hers kiblat compass as a gift). So typical overprotective of her.. = )

One of the most discussed issue among uk media since yesterday was on David Cameron decision not to mark the anniversary in any official way, however, Prime Minister and London Mayor, Boris Johnson did lay a memorial wreath at Hyde Park.
"This was an attack against the country. I don't think any of us are saying we want it to become an annual major event but I think on the fifth anniversary the least the PM could do is attend and lay a wreath." ~relatives
