Overview
BACKGROUND
Leeds University Malaysian Society (LUMSOC) was established in 2005 and acts as a student organisation which provides support for Malaysian students, particularly with their studies and life, towards better adaptation in this country. Not only that, we also promote a better understanding of our culture in the local community. LUMSOC has previously hosted major events such as Leeds University Malaysian Game, Leeds University International Fair, Fresher’s Camp, Treasure Hunt, ‘Anak Angkat’ Project, Eid Celebration, Iftar, outdoor activities and talks. All these events are aimed for Malaysian students studying in Leeds University, with the purposes of cultivating bonds and create networking among Malaysian students in the UK.
NISE

NISE, a short form of Nisa’ Nasheed Extravaganza is one of the special projects for the ladies’ nasheed competition by LUMSOC. We are looking forward to continue our great success event as we managed to organize the first nasheed competition last February. ‘ Islamic Women Ideals: Past, Present and Future’ has been chosen to be the theme for this year’s NISE as we believe that there is a need for us to learn lessons from personalities, roles, socials, mental, and political status of Muslim women religious figures and use them to guide our lives in our communities and in our societies. The problem of proper understanding is the most important and essential problem of our time. At the present time, the struggles of committed Muslim intellectuals should be directed to a proper understanding and recognition of Islam's history and religion. This proper understanding of these figures is the key to our salvation. Therefore, we would encourage participants and audience to explore and examine themselves, their understanding of how these values can be adopted in their daily lives.
